Events Round up

As notified in previous newsletters a number of events have taken place in West Auckland over the past month or so where UHY Haines Norton has had an involvement here is a wrap as to how they all went.

Waitakere Business Club After 5s

The first event off the block was the Waitakere Business Club – Business After 5 networking event held at UHY Haines Norton’s offices at the end of July. The networking function was well attended by some 200 people. Click here to view photos. The entertainment for the evening was a quiz in the format of “Its in the Bag”, three lucky contestants walked away with prizes including a meal for two at the Falls Hotel and two Babich wine gift packs .The fourth contestant was not quite so fortunate taking home the booby prize of a multi coloured wig. Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation Awards and Fundraising Gala

Next up was the annual Don Oliver Youth Sports awards and fundraising dinner held at The Trusts Stadium. UHY Haines Norton Director Kerry Tizard is a Trustee of the Foundation.

The dinner was hosted by Greg Ward with Michael Jones as the guest speaker. Fifteen sporting scholarships were awarded during the evening to up and coming pre elite West Auckland athletes encompassing sports from aerobics to motorcycling and badminton to swimming.

Funds raised from the evening will go towards providing future sporting scholarships.

Wine Tasting with Michael Cooper

The third event for the month took place back at the offices of UHY Haines Norton where the wine connoisseur and critic Michael Cooper entertained and quizzed a full room of people on New Zealand wines.

This is an annual event hosted by Michael at UHY Haines Norton and is proving very popular.

In this instance Michael chose 6 wines (3 white and 3 red) from his recently published book 100 Must-Try New Zealand Wines and proceeded to test the audience’s knowledge on the selected wines. Two lucky winners walked away with Babich wine gift packs.

Michael’s expertise and informal manner meant that the night once again proved both educational and fun and was well received by all those in attendance.
