Brothers Peter and Joe Babich of Babich Wines were honoured at this year’s Royal Easter Wine Show as inductees to its Wine Hall of Fame. The recognition was in honour of a single family’s contribution over almost 100 years (2016 is their anniversary of 100 years of family winemaking), as well as the individual contributions of Peter and Joe to the wine industry. As the recipients of a host of New Zealand and international awards, the Babich family are unwavering in their pursuit of excellence and quality. Peter and Joe have pioneered vineyards in Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough, and developed one of the country’s first Chardonnays to be fermented and matured on its yeast lees in barrels. Today Babich Wines is one of New Zealand’s leading wine exporting companies, with a well-deserved reputation for quality and consistency.
