Lopdell HouseOur own UHY Haines Norton Director Tim Livingstone has been a trustee of the Lopdell House Arts Development Trust (re-established as the Lopdell House Development Trust) since its inception in 2002.  The Trust was established to work with Auckland Council on a redevelopment of the heritage building, with the difficult brief of restoring a landmark building while integrating it within a busy suburban village setting.  Following several years of detailed planning during which time Mitchell & Stout Architects Ltd were commissioned with the project, construction commenced in 2012.  The stunning restoration included a return to a sensitive colour scheme both externally and internally, reinstatement of the rooftop terrace and opening up of the pavement faces.

At this year’s New Zealand Institute of Architects Awards, Mitchell & Stout received both the Heritage Building award for Lopdell House and the Public Architecture award for the contemporary Te Uru Gallery.  On behalf of the Lopdell House Development Trust, Tim would like to congratulate Mitchell & Stout and recognise the efforts of all Trust members who have worked so hard and for so long to achieve this incredible result.
